Home Filters Light Pollution Filters Baader 1.25 Inch Neodymium Filter
The Baader Neodymium filter improves views of the Moon, Planets & deep sky objects and is suitable for all sizes of telescope thanks to it's high light transmission and quality multicoatings, if you only ever buy one filter for your telescope this is the perfect choice. This filter really works on improving the contrast on the widest variety of objects, more than any other single filter.
A premium selective bandpass- filter to cut a major part of light pollution and greatly intensify the H-alpha wavelength of the visual spectrum working as a whole like an RGB-Intensifier. This is achieved with the use of the rare earth element NEODYMIUM, whose effect as astronomical filter is unique. The effect is very impressive especially if applied on the planets Jupiter and Mars, while at the same time considerably darkening the sky background. Many thousands of Neodymium Filters have been distributed being one of the most effective and economical tools for the amateur astronomer. Drastically improves contrast for all reflector telescopes, without loss of brightness The latest production run features multilayer coatings on both sides, which makes the genuine NEODYMIUM Moon & Skyglow-Filter the brightest in this family of filters. Greatly intensifies surface details on Mars, Jupiter and the Moon and enhances many Deep Sky galaxies and nebulae against the background sky. Features:Selective contrast enhancing filter, especially suitable for all reflector type telescopes and true Apochromats. Transmitts a maximum of light, while blocking unwanted skyglow and many street light emissions. Benefits the smaller telescopes which cannot benefit from expensive narrow-band nebula filters due to the huge light-loss involved. The unique selective blocking feature of the NEODYMIUM element greatly reduces glare, without reducing recognition of important color and brightness variations. Transmission within the selected wave bands exceeds 95%. Fits all standard filter threads in 1.25" eyepieces, barlows and accessories. Built in IR-Cut-Filter for all CCD and digital camera work. This combination works extremely well due to cutting all unfocused light, an absolute must for digital imaging. Planeoptically polished! Retains full image resolution even at highest magnification, way above 200x, or during eyepiece projection work, even in front of a binocular viewer. Phantom coating group - Ultrahard and durable Ion-beam hardened coatings, may be cleaned anytime without fear. No image degradation as with `flame polished` filters. Non-vignetting filter cells, larger in aperture than any competing design, featuring a CNC milled `crown` for ease of handling and attachment. If you have never seen the GRS (Great Red Spot) on Jupiter or surface features on Mars with this filter you probably will.
1.25 inch Neodymium Filter What a great looking filter! I look forward to the weather giving me the opportunity to use it. Great service from Harrison telescopes as usual. (25/02/2024) Chris - UK
Not the most dramatic filter but works quite well I use this for EAA and I find it knocks down a fair bit of the light pollution but doesnt cut detail noticeably. I live in a Bortle 6 area. I went for this instead of the l-pro as some reviews said it retained the natural colour of the object. I have an Svbony UHC filter and I prefer the Baader. (09/04/2023) Jonathan - Chelmsford
Great customer service... Easy to deal with. Item great quality and order to supply very fast. Not used the filter as yet due to our wonderful weather, fully expect it to work as expected. 4 stars only as I can't comment on usage. (26/02/2023) M. Thompson - S. Wales
Neodymium filter I used it on the moon Last night in combination with a normal neutral moon filter and it corrects the colour of the maria from a yellow shade to a more neutral gray, and it seemed to give better contrast and detail. I didn't see any differences looking at M42, re: skyglow, etc. but early days yet. (11/02/2022) Peter Power - Dorset
Baader Neodymium filter More than just a light pollution filter and is also a pretty decent contrast booster. I look upon mine as a multiple use filter. I live in a bortle 5 area and the sky is darkened with using it. Definitely a worthy addition to my filter collection (19/12/2021) Ian - Oxford
Good for blocking sodium street lights Definitely removes a lot of that sickly yellow glow caused by sodium street lights. Male thread one side, female the other so you can stack them or use with a Barlow. (01/08/2020) Mike - Bristol
faultless Quality product and very efficient service. Looking at all the customer reviews I can't think of anything else to add but my thanks. (22/10/2019) steve naxton - wales
best filter for me so far Had the standard sky-watcher cheap filter which did help but this is much better. It seems to transmit more of the correct wavelengths from Nebulae and is in a good quality plastic case. (21/12/2015) RYAN - WEST MIDS
