A Lens Shade or Dew Cap is a tube, of approximately the same diameter as your telescope tube, designed to fit on the front end of the telescope to reduce the amount of dew that builds up on the corrector plate. It also serves as a Lens Shade by preventing stray light from falling on the corrector plate, which greatly improves contrast. Made from a lightweight flexible material with felt lining to prevent stray light this dual fit dew shield will fit all Celestron 6" & 8" SCT telescopes including the NexStar 6SE, StarSense Explorer 6" SCT, AVX 8", NexStar 8SE, Evolution 6" & 8" and CPC800. Also suitable for some Meade 8" SCT's.Please noteA cut out is provided to allow room for dovetails on models where they are attached to the optical tube

Fits Starsense Explorer DX 6” SCT It does keep the dew away - but to be honest I’m a complete newbie and have never used my brand new Telescope without it, so have nothing to compare it against. It’s quite pricy for what it is (essentially some foam and Velcro). The more creative may want to make their own - plenty of online advice. (17/06/2021) Mark - Norfolk
