Affordale, simple to use telescope that with just your smartphone and the APP finds objects in the night sky fast - Celestron has reinvented the manual telescope with StarSense Explorer, the first telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real time. When the object is ready to view, the bullseye turns green.Smartphone CompatibilityStarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and up and most devices running Android 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016. StarSense Sky Recognition TechnologyStarSense Explorer uses patent-pending technology and your smartphone to determine exactly where the telescope is pointed in the night sky. A Lost in Space Algorithm (LISA), like the ones satellites use in orbit to correctly reorient themselves, helps the app match star patterns it detects overhead to its internal database. While other astronomy apps may claim that they can help you find objects, they rely exclusively on the phones gyros and accelerometers, which arent as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can accurately tell you when your target is visible in the eyepiece.Sturdy Altazimuth MountStarSense Explorer LTs simple altazimuth mount makes it easy to move the telescope to find your target. A slow-motion altitude adjustment knob helps you fine tune the telescopes pointing position and follow targets as they appear to drift across the night sky. Its all anchored by an adjustable, full-height tripod.Dazzling Views with High Quality OpticsWith a large 127mm (5") objective lens, this telescope has enough light gathering ability to bring out detail in celestial objects. You can expect sharp, bright views of Jupiters four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, the rings of Saturn, the trapezium in the Orion Nebula, and beautiful Pleaides Open Star Cluster.Perfect for the City or Dark Sky SitesEven if you live in a light polluted city location, StarSense Explorer is advanced enough to be able to pick out Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula, double stars, and a few more of the most famous celestial objects. But if you can take the telescope to an even slightly darker location, more objects will become visible. With this 5 Newtonian and relatively dark skies, the Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Open Star Cluster, and so many more are easily within your reach. The entire telescope kit weighs just 11.4 pounds, so its perfectly portable and easy to bring on your next camping trip or to a remote observing site.Everything You Need to Observe ImmediatelyWhen you unbox your new StarSense Explorer LT, youll find: 127mm Newtonian reflector optical tube StarSense dock for your smartphone Low powered (25mm) and high powered (10mm) eyepiece 2x Barlow lens to double the power of each eyepiece StarPointer red dot finderscope, perfect for using the telescope during the day or without the StarSense Explorer app Altazimuth mount with slow motion control rod Full-height tripod with an accessory tray to keep you organizedSpecificationsOptical Tube Info: Optical Design Newtonian ReflectorAperture 127mm (5")Focal Length 1000mm (39.3")Focal Ratio f/7.87Focal Length of Eyepiece 1 25mm (0.98")Magnification of Eyepiece 1 40xFocal Length of Eyepiece 2 10mm (0.39")Magnification of Eyepiece 2 100xBarlow Lens 2x (1.25")Finderscope StarPointer red dot finderscopeOptical Tube SteelHighest Useful Magnification 300xLowest Useful Magnification 18xLimiting Stellar Magnitude 13Resolution (Rayleigh) 1.1 arc secondsResolution (Dawes) .91 arc secondsLight Gathering Power (Compared to human eye) 329xSecondary Mirror Obstruction 41mm (1.6")Secondary Mirror Obstruction by Diameter 32%Secondary Mirror Obstruction by Area 10%Optical Coatings Glass mirrors coated with aluminum and SiO2Optical Tube Length 457.2mm (18")Optical Tube Diameter 165.1mm (6.5")Optical Tube Weight 7.6 lbs (3.44 kg)Dovetail NoneMount Info: Mount Type Manual Alt-AzimuthHeight adjustment range (includes mount and tripod) Aluminum, 1320.8mm (52") max heightTripod Leg Diameter 31.75mm (1.25") steelAccessory Tray YesTripod Weight 3.8 lbs (1.72 kg)Slew Speeds ManualGPS Uses phone's GPSDovetail Compatibility CG-5 Dovetail barPower Requirements None (Recommend PowerTank Glow to keep phone charged while using app)Alignment Procedures Use StarSense Explorer appSoftware StarSense Explorer app | SkyPortal app | Celestron Starry Night Basic Edition SoftwareTotal Kit Weight 11.4 lbs (5.17 kg)Included Items Telescope tube | Mount/tripod (preassembled) | 25mm & 10mm eyepieces | 2x Barlow lens | StarPointer finderscope | Accessory tray | StarSense Explorer phone dock
First telescope Took the plunge and decided to buy my first telescope, did quite a lot of research on line, and came across Harrison’s, was impressed by the site and more importantly the range of products on offer. Contacted Harrison’s to discuss options and on their advice bought a Celesstron LT 127AZ StarSense (30/07/2024) Steve - Webber
Excellent service good communication throughout item Excellent as described many thanks would highly recommend (12/03/2023) Andy - Kent
Great service and product A really nice website to navigate and learn about this hobby. I chose the LT 127AZ after researching here and elsewhere. I love the app as it makes it so quick to just look for or identify objects without any prior knowledge. (22/08/2022) Rees - Gloucester
Excellent service I don’t know what I am talking about as I am a complete beginner, but the telescope was a doddle to set up and I have been able to view some stars so I am chuffed..I really wasn’t expecting much from a telescope at this price but it is excellent and the app is fab.delivery and service was excellent (17/07/2022) Mark - Staffs

Celestron LT 127AZ StarSense Explorer Telescope A great beginners scope and the service from Harrison telescopes could not be faulted, amazingly quick dispatch and there after service is also 5 stars so ready to respond to even the most basic beginners questions. (12/01/2022) Andy Hills - Bristol
Great so far The sales response on line was almost immediate to my questions and the goods arrived on time. This is a Christmas present so we will have to wait till Santa has been for a review of the item. (28/11/2021) Adrian - Derby
Excellent scope and service Did a little research and settled on this as our first telescope. Instructions where a little basic so would suggest a good read through first but went together quite easily. First night a little broken cloud but saw Jupiter and it's moon's. Invested further in a 12mm plosil eyepiece and moon filter (10/10/2021) Alan Simpson - Ormskirk Lancashire
Excellent beginner telescope I bought this to attempt to start to see some stars and planets with my young kids. With the smartphone app it took me about 1 hour from unboxing to having it aligned. That night we saw some double stars and Mars! Super easy to use. Excellent customer service from Harrison Telescopes! (17/10/2020) Mr Laurie Richards - Surrey
Absolutely brilliant I am an absolute beginner using telescopes and after days of searching for a telescope that would give decent views but be simple to use I’m really happy that I chose this one. Setting up this evening was pretty simple and within minutes I had a great view of the moon. Detail is amazing. (05/05/2020) Lisa - Hertfordshire
Great scope but app issues The scope is great, setup is easy got some awesome views of the moon. The app I had set up issues with though, it struggled to find the location and I had to re install it, nearly gave up with it but it eventually sprung into life. Great addition having the app when it works, updates may fix this (02/05/2020) Craig - West Yorkshire
Excellent The delivery was fast , and the telescope is a great piece of kit, easy to set up and use. (27/04/2020) Tony - Caterham. Surrey
