Home Binoculars Helios Binoculars Helios 2x40 Star Field Binoculars
Helios Star Field binoculars are compact ultra wide angle binoculars based on a modified Galilean optical system design and is a useful and fun addition for anyone interested in astronomy, bridging the gap between naked eye astronomy and more traditional binocular astronomy. With its super-wide field of view and low 2x magnification, the viewing experience is more akin to naked eye astronomy but with twice the magnifying power and about four times the light gathering ability than the naked eye alone. As a result so many more stars suddenly become visible, giving the user the feeling of having super enhanced vision. Viewing under clear dark skies is especially rewarding. Stars of magnitudes of between one and two times darker can be revealed. Ideal for viewing the Milky Way, open star clusters and constellations as well as being a perfect optical tool for Comets and Meteors.Vast Field of ViewThe field is wide enough for most constellations to be captured in their entirety, this kind of view is simply not possible with ordinary binoculars or telescopes. An ideal optical aid for seeing much more in the night sky than the naked eye, perfect for the Milky way, starfields, clusters, bright galaxies and nebulae and Comet hunting. The optics are fully multi-coated and the large eye lenses make for comfortable viewing. The binocular features individual eyepiece focusing and the images delivered are upright and fully corrected. Robustly constructed CNC machined aluminium body. The Helios Star Field binocular is also suitable for use as Theatre/Opera glasses. Supplied with neck strap and semi-hard zipped case.SpecificationMagnification: 2xObjective Les Diameter: 40mmFully Multi-Coated OpticsEye Relief: 10mmAngular Field of View: 24°Actual Field of View: 445m@1000mClose focus: 2mInter-pupillary Distance Range: 56-72mmDioptre Range : -5 to +3Size 122x49x38mmWeight: 189g (238g with case)
Good value! Nice piece of kit. Gives another dimension to naked eye star gazing. Great service from Harrison Telescopes as always. (07/04/2024) -
Fantastic little pair of binoculars These little binoculars give you better eye sight for very little weight and no issues with shaking or fatigue. Even in my light polluted backyard I was able to quickly find M31, the double cluster in Cassiopeia and clearly split the stars in M45. Can't wait to use them in darker skies. Helios 2x40 Harrison delivery was super quick. The 2x40 Helios is very high build quality all metal, with multi coatings super smooth separate eye piece focusing,Iwas very surprised in a good way at the level of correction in the simple optical system, which looks around F1,I even use them for casual bird watch (22/01/2023) Michael Walsh - Michael Walsh
Happy Delivered super quick. Surprised how the starfield binos are well corrected for such a short focal ratio of about F1 ! (Although far from photographicaly perfect as expected) The brightnes in daytime is great, compared to Leica trinovids 8x20 makes the Leica look dark maybe 2 stops down. Stable view (19/12/2022) Michael Walsh - Manchester
Exactly what I was hoping for These little binoculars really deliver a great view of the sky - they make all of the constellations easily visible and with the huge field of view you can get many of them fully in your field of view. They also really help with light pollution. Great service from Harrisons, too, with fast delivery. (18/10/2022) Jack - Nottingham
Super Present for all family I read the reviews of this product and thought I would be a brilliant addition for my husband and easy for the rest of us to wonder at the magic of the night sky. Especially the little ones. It arrived very quickly with good communication and a lovely build quality. It’s a great bit of kit. (15/08/2021) B Jones - Leicester
Super Service Arrived day after I placed my order - what a super service. The binoculars are light and give a crisp, sharp focus. They are easy to handle, reasonably priced and the FOV can easily fit the Plough asterism in. (28/06/2021) Bob W - West Sussex
Quick service or what?..... I haven't had the opportunity to try these yet, but, I just had to comment on the very fast delivery. Ordered at 9:45 on a Friday morning expecting delivery sometime the following week. To my delight, they were delivered the Saturday barely 24 hrs after placing order. Excellent service - thanks ?? Now cheap enough, even for me, These are very nicely made and robust. You really can see dimmer stars than with the naked eye and the FOV is very wide. They will always find a space in my rucksack when I head for the hills. (24/10/2020) Miles Felton - Carlisle
Excellent bit of kit I’ve also owned the more expensive Japanese version of these binoculars. I sold those as they were quite disappointing. However, these alternative ones from Harrison Telescopes are better and I will be hanging onto these without question. Very pleased. (12/10/2020) Tony B - Nottingham
