Home Filters Light Pollution Filters OVL 1.25 Inch Ultra High Contrast Filter
The 1.25" narrowband UHC filter, like the O-III filter, isolates the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm) in addition to the hydrogen-beta line (486nm) emitted by planetary and most emission nebulae. This filter permits superb views of objects like the Orion, Ring, Dumbell, Swan and other extended nebulae. It performs well in smaller aperture instruments owing to its greater light transmission than the O-III, yet still suppresses light pollution well. The UHC filter is the best all round nebula filter giving a new lease of life to deep sky observing with any instrument. The filter threaded to fit either standard filter threads in 1.25" astronomical eyepieces and accessories and is supplied in a protective storage case.
It adds a new dimension to Deep Sky viewing Tested on Sagittarius region for the Swan, Eagle, Lagoon and the Planetary Ring Nebula in Lyra. Objects gain considerably from this type of filter with the gaseous parts appearing much more strongly. Like having an additional third eye to observing and the views are superb. OVL Filter: Exactly as I'd hoped. I bought this filter to observe the Orion and Flame nebulae with my Skywatcher Starquest 130P, also bought from Harrison's. The filter allows better light transmission than an OIII filter on a 130mm scope and gives excellent contrast. The Orion nebula appears much bigger and sharper. Very happy. Good price and helps reduce light pollution I am new to astro hobby so was abit sceptical of how much light pollution a filter can reduce. Am so glad I bought this. Its helped with my visual and astrophotography work as well. Use it constantly now. Well worth it. (24/10/2020) Kull - London
OVL 1.25 INCH ULTRA HIGH CONTRAST FILTER Received item this week and already used. A decent filter and works well in the garden for the price.
