Home Filters Lunar & Planetary Filters OVL 1.25 Inch Variable Polarising Filter
This high quality 1.25" anodized aluminium, optical glass variable polarising filter will reduce the amount of light entering your eyepiece. You can progressively dim the view when observing a bright object, such as the Moon or certain planets, to a level according to your needs, whilst increasing contrast, reducing glare and increasing the amount of detail that can be studied. The light transmission can be varied from 40% down to as little as 1%. The filter will not change the colour of the object being viewed and will prevent eye fatigue and loss of night vision. Each filter set consists of two polarizing filters, one which can be rotated in its cell to adjust the brightness.
The filters, used as single elements, can also be used for daytime terrestrial use for reducing sunlight glare from lakes oceans or window glass. Threaded to fit either standard 1.25 astronomical eyepieces or accessories and supplied complete with a storage case.
Excellent The moon had detail within craters when I used this filter. It cut the glare and so shadows on the moon were more noticable. I then used it on Venus and was able to see it much more comfortable without the white bright glare. It arrived very quickly. Was packaged well and has a nice container. 10/10 (09/02/2020) Mark - Gainsborough

very happy with OVL Polarising Filter 1.25" Having just taken up astronomy, my first attempt to view a full moon was disappointing due to the brightness. After reading several articles I bought this filter and was very impressed at the detail I could see. It took a bit of time to get the required adjustment but well worth it. (05/10/2018) Stevem61 -
